How Filipino Communities in New York Unite to Fight Racism

Interviewed two Filipino-American activists about their work in the anti-Asian hate protests and their overall activism. Article.

Rappler is the top digital only news site leading the fight for press freedom in the Philippines. Rappler's CEO and president, Maria Ressa has endured constant political harassment and arrests by the Duterte government, forced to post bail ten times to stay free, and was one of two journalists awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021 in recognition of her "efforts to safeguard freedom of expression, which is a precondition for democracy and lasting peace."

In 2021, I was luckily able to intern for Rappler in their video production department remotely. During this internship I worked with two other interns to produce videos and articles for the website every month as well as additional tasks for the company itself such as translating videos and outreaching and posting content for community pantries in the Philippines.
